SUNDAY 10 NOV 10.30am-11.30am
This workshop has been created for our very beginner gardeners and is open to children twelve years and under.
In partnership with Te Whanau Hou Grovetown Lagoon, you’ll learn about the lifecycle of the butterfly, as well as what you need to do to attract them into your garden, and how to protect them. You’ll find out who butterflies’ enemies and friends are, you’ll discover where they go in the winter, and you’ll learn what they like to eat. You may be surprised to hear what a butterfly’s favourite food is!
The workshop will uncover a wealth of fascinating facts about the butterflies found in New Zealand, and how you can identify them. You’ll also learn about butterfly research, and how we’ve gathered all the information we have on them.
Each child will receive goodies to take home with them, including their very own swan plant and ‘butterfly mix’ seeds from Yates, to help begin their own butterfly garden.
This workshop will take place at the fete on Sunday, at Churchill Glade. Numbers are strictly limited so be in early.
Note that children need to be accompanied by an adult (only one ticket required).
