GARDEN MARLBOROUGH CELEBRATES 25 YEARS
Have you ever wondered how the top professional landscaping teams get their plants to look so healthy and lush all the time? Do you look at really well planted gardens, and wonder why yours is taking twice as long to grow?
Here’s your chance to learn the processes behind exceptional gardens, and what plants need to thrive. Reduce transplant stress, so plants can resume growing immediately after being moved. Learn how to enrich your soil so roots can supply moisture and nutrients, keeping leaves and branches healthy and lush even after moving from a sheltered nursery to a tough country garden environment. Whether you’re planning to move existing large shrubs and trees, or just plant your bagged and potted purchases from the weekend, this workshop – for newbies, experienced gardeners and skilled professionals – will get your plants up and growing immediately.
Your friends and neighbours will wonder what they’re doing wrong, because your garden will be growing so much faster!
Do you have ugly views you’d like to screen from view using fun creative solutions? If so, Dan Rutherford’s afternoon workshop – Gorgeous Screens and Fences – is a must. Transform your stark boundary fences into lush pleached hedges, espalier fruit trees around your vege garden or weave prunings into a natural screen. Frame a view with a window in a hedge, build a log wall, or a mobile garden to screen views through the seasons. Using a creative mix of audio-visual presentation and hands-on implementation, Dan will show you how to build living walls and vertical vegetable gardens, or an artificial hedge that can be moved around the garden, drawing eyes away from garden ‘disaster areas’. If you’re looking to create well-defined outdoor rooms and living spaces, this is the workshop for you.
These workshops are rare opportunities to share Dan’s extensive landscaping knowledge, and the products, tools, techniques and technology that he’s gathered over a lifetime. As well as working as a garden designer, Dan runs a team of professional landscapers. He has won several gold medals at the Ellerslie Garden Show, the People’s Choice award at the Singapore Garden Festival and a silver medal at the recent New Zealand Flower and Garden Show. Creative garden designs, exceptional workmanship and a passion for gardens have earned Dan a leading reputation in Canterbury over 25 years. “Garden design is about creating and transforming outdoor living spaces as well as the lives of people who inhabit them, and adding real value to your home no matter the scale or the budget.”
