In a botanical masterclass hosted by Elemental Distillers Ltd, Marlborough’s newest craft distillery, head distiller Ben Leggett presents a tour of the gin ingredient growing and production process, all the way from root to cup.
Beginning with a historical and anatomical overview of juniper, the ‘hero’ botanical, before working through the core ingredients that make up a London Dry gin, Ben will take you on a knowledge-gathering and tasting journey. Each botanical will be independently sampled as a spirit before you’re given the opportunity to create a glass of your own unique gin blend from the deconstructed distillates in front of you.
As you work your way through the single distilled botanicals tastings of juniper, coriander seed, grapefruit and angelica, you’ll be learning how to blend a London Dry style gin to your own unique taste. Mix with tonic as desired, and enjoy! As well as blending and tasting, you’ll learn about botanical origin, grower practices and processing methods.
The workshop will be held within walking distance of Elemental Distillers’ new distillery on Rapaura Road. Gin: From Root to Cup will be engaging, informative, and we guarantee it will be really fun. Places are strictly limited on this workshop so make sure you don’t miss out.
