Creating an Energy-Efficient Home

Creating an Energy-Efficient Home

with Fairfield Construction and Passive House Advocate Meredith Robinson

Garden Marlborough, Fairfield Construction and passive house advocate Meredith Robinson, warmly invite you to an informative workshop and tour of recently built and renovated homes incorporating the core principles of energy efficiency, sustainability, and dedication to comfort and health.

Whether you’re building a skyscraper or a small dwelling, learn the principles of building with comfort at the very core of the design. Comfort is defined here as consistently warm, quiet, healthy, low maintenance and energy efficient with low running costs. Passive House design is being adopted around the world as the highest standard of construction, using computer modelling based on building physics, real world data and site-specific modelling to ensure buildings meet strict criteria to deliver a comfortable environment.

You will hear from Mark Thompson of Fairfield Construction who is passionate about building and renovating high performance buildings and Meredith Robinson, architect turned passive house designer. Visit one of Fairfield Construction’s recently completed projects, an architecturally interesting home, certified by the Passive House Institute as a variety of different finishings while being super energy-efficient. Visit a 1990s suburban house currently under construction as it is refurbished to certified Passive House standard. Visit Brenda Webb and David Morgan’s semi-passive house built five years ago and hear why they feel adamant such energy efficient houses are the only way forward.

Meet the owners of these high-performance homes and hear what it is like to live in them and how they compare to previous homes. Enjoy a glass of wine and a wander around the garden of David Morgan and Brenda Webb as the day comes to a close.

During this one-off workshop and tour, you will learn firsthand the process of building better, from the digital model to finished product. This is the future standard of building. Join the movement now.
